Roddy Ricch‘s new album seems to have been pushed back, just days before its previously-announced release date.
The rapper originally said that The Navy Album was coming last December, before moving the date to this coming Friday (February 21). But eagle-eyed fans noticed recently — and HipHopDX can confirm — that the iTunes Store listing for the project currently lists it as “Expected April 25, 2025.”
Roddy made headlines for a different reason late last year when he accused a storage hunter of attempting to extort him for $50,000 over a Grammy Award that he lost.
Speaking on Instagram Live, Roddy explained: “My personal assistant ended up getting into a near-fatal accident and had a severe brain injury. Me going back and forth to Miami, I just put my stuff in storage for safe-keeping. Him getting into that accident is how that shit got mishandled.”
He continued: “Once we received the news that the kid had the Grammy, we get on the phone with him immediately. We offered him something but he basically said the money we were offering him weren’t shit.
For his part, Hunters denied trying to extort Roddy Ricch and claimed that he was threatened by the rapper and his team, writing in an Instagram comment: “I did not ask for that and no I did not get offered none 50k all I got was threats you guys don’t know the full story I returned it at NO COST and want nothing to do with them I want no compensation from them not even tickets!”
He later shared a video explaining his side of the story: “Yes, I got in contact with Roddy Ricch and his assistant, but no, I’m not asking for $1 million or none of that. All I wanted was a video of me giving it back to him or at least a video of him telling me thank you.
