Iconic Roots Picnic Music Festival is Back at The Mann with Lenny Kravitz, D’angelo, Meek Mill, More

One of the most beloved names in music, The Roots, is once again kicking off the summer for the Philadelphia region with another sure-to-be-legendary music showcase at The Mann in Fairmount Park.

Joining the Grammy-winning hometown Roots crew in the two-day festival are many other high-profile artists like D’Angelo (performing with The Roots) and Lenny Kravitz. Tickets are still available for what Rolling Stone called “Hip-Hop’s Greatest Festival,” which will will take place May 31 and June 1. Get ticket packages from therootspicnic.com.

Mixed into the lineup are Philly-native talents that have become national and worldwide hits. Musiq Soulchild, celebrating the 25th anniversary of his first studio album “Aijuswanaseing”. The Roots will be celebrating 30 years of their own major-label debut “Do You Want More?” (making some of us feel old). Trenton-born Adam Blackstone, who rose to prominence in the Philadelphia music scene will be playing with Jagged Edge. One of the headliners, Meek Mill grew up in Philly before becoming household name all over will make his first appearance at the Roots Picnic.

Organizers bill the festival as “the crossroads of music and culture, entertaining, engaging, and enlightening millions of fans along the way.”

Past Roots Picnics have featured “everyone from Lil Wayne, The Weeknd, Pharrell, Snoop Dogg, Phantogram, Usher, Nas, A$AP Rocky, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, and Future to Vampire Weekend, The War on Drugs, Gary Clark, Jr., Solange, Diplo, Gnarls Barkley, and more.”

The festival “isn’t just a cornerstone of the group’s career, but a cornerstone of the culture,” organizers said in a press release.
