La Reezy and PJ Morton get ready for their upcoming EP on a single mixing psychedelia and soul.
In the spirit of old school DJ-rapper collaborations, La Reezy and PJ Morton have teamed up once again on “For The Mind,” another soulful single off their upcoming EP, Pardon Me, I’m Different, out July 4. Recently, the producer-rapper duo has been working closely alongside each other, going to the BET Awards after their other single, “Pardon Me,” dropped.
“For The Mind” is another showcase for La Reezy, a 20-year-old rapper who’s been making waves and garnering co-signs left and right. Morton’s production lets La Reezy lean into conscious rap, allowing him to flow over a psychedelic beat where he reaffirms that he’s in it for provoking thought rather than chasing the dollar signs.
What’s equally impressive is how La Reezy takes emcee responsibilities with clear confidence, not tripping over the production even when it momentarily takes detours to give the shimmering keys the spotlight. Similar to other songs, “For The Mind” is another testament to La Reezy’s mission in keeping things positive, which never takes away from his ability to flow over any instrumental thrown at him.
With the rest of their EP nearing closer, the material released thus far suggests the project is shaping up to be another big win for La Reezy in a flourishing career and a way for Morton to uplift another upcoming artist as part of his “A PJ Morton Production” initiative.
